Environmental Advantages

You’re surely familiar with the "Three R Rule": Reduce, Re-use and Recycle. If all of us put that simple rule into practice together, the environment will be cleaner today and for future generations. Techno Écolo tires are a great example of applying the Three R Rule.

1. REDUCE the quantity of waste we produce.
   
   When your mechanic installs new tires on your vehicle, it is the tire tread that is being replaced. The useful life of the internal structure of your used tires has just started: they can be entirely reused to produce durable and safe tires. When you buy Techno Écolo tires, you’re reducing the amount of waste you produce — at the source.
2. RE-USE, salvage or repair a product to use it again without modifying its form or function.
   
   Remolding tires is by far the best way of re-using tires. Every Techno tire you install on your vehicle translates into 18 litres of crude oil (on average) that will not have to be extracted, transported, refined and processed. The same principle applies to the rest of the tire’s structural components, including steel, alloys and other materials.
3. RECYCLING consists of using reclaimed materials for a different use from their first use.
   
   The Techno tire remanufacturing process involves many inspection steps preceding the reconstruction of the reclaimed tire and offering it for sale. Inevitably, some tire carcasses are rejected. These are sent to processing centres for recycled materials, to be used for other purposes.
   
   During the remolding process, many steps, including tread buffing, produce rubber waste that is much sought-after for its high quality. This rubber waste is also converted to a variety of uses by our partners.
